Officers arrested a 23-year-old man Wednesday after he was spotted breaking into cars in the Brighton neighborhood.
Police were called to the 7000 block of Rainier Avenue South when a woman spotted a man breaking into her car just before 5 am. Police quickly arrived and found the suspect exiting the victim’s vehicle. The suspect attempted to walk away but was taken into custody. A search of the suspect found multiple stolen credit cards, which belonged to the victim, as well as a small amount of methamphetamine, which didn’t belong to the victim.
Officers also found a stolen car nearby, which was left running, probably driven there by the same suspect. Officers impounded the vehicle for further investigation.
Officers booked the suspect into King County Jail for investigation of theft as well as narcotics charges.
