The Seattle Police Department, as the lead agency for the Washington State Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce (WA ICAC TF) is pleased to announce participation and promotion of Safer Internet Day. Safer Internet Day is an awareness-raising campaign that started in Europe more than a decade ago to promote the safe and positive use of digital technology, especially among children and young people. It’s the one day of the year when people all over the planet are sending the message that making the internet great for everybody takes everybody.
We encourage everyone to take a moment and talk about how to keep themselves, their families and friends safer on-line. This can be using privacy settings on social media, using parental controls for internet searches and length of time children are on-line, as well as relationships on-line and sharing personal information.
The WA ICAC TF provides internet safety presentations throughout the year to schools, parents, community members and community organizations throughout the year. If you are interested in one, please contact wa.icac@seattle.gov.
