Suspect in 2011 Hit and Run Arrested in Oregon

US Marshals arrested the suspect in this case in Southern Oregon on Wednesday, after Seattle Police received a lead in the case.

The 37-year-old suspect was booked into the Josephine County Jail as a fugitive and law enforcement officials will now work to return him to Washington to face charges.

Seattle Police Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS) detectives are attempting to locate Daniel Newell, 28 for the May 30th hit and run which injured a 9 year old girl.  Newell was driving a stolen vehicle when he struck the girl.  The girl is still recovering from her injuries.

Daniel Newell is described as 5′ 9″, 150 pounds, green eyes, and brown hair.  He may no longer be in the Seattle area.  He is considered armed and dangerous.

He has been charged with several crimes, including Vehicular Assault, Eluding, Possession of Stolen Vehicle, and Felony Hit and Run.  If anyone has information on Mr. Newell, or knows his current whereabouts, they are urged to call 911 immediately.
