Robbery Suspect Arrested in High Point

Officers, including a K-9 team, arrested a 27-year-old robbery suspect in the High Point neighborhood Monday evening.

On April 16th, at approximately 11:30 pm, an adult female drove into an apartment complex lot in the High Point neighborhood and parked, intending to look in on her mother. While the victim was still seated inside her vehicle, a man approached her vehicle and opened the driver’s door, pulling on the victim. The suspect threatened and repeatedly struck the victim in the head. He then stole the victim’s purse, wallet and cell phone. The victim was able to alert neighbors, who called 911. Officers searched the area but were unable to find the suspect. The case was assigned to an investigator for follow up. SPD Robbery Detective Ryan Lancaster was able to identify a possible suspect and distributed an informational bulletin to officers.

Yesterday, at approximately 5:40 pm, Officers Eric Cole and Caleb Howard of the Southwest Precinct saw the 27-year-old suspect walking on Lanham Place SW. While speaking with the suspect and attempting to confirm his identity, he ran from officers. The officers chased after him and called in a K-9 to assist with the search. After approximately 20 minutes, officers found the suspect hiding in the 6000 block of Lanham Place SW. The suspect was taken into custody and interviewed by robbery detectives at SPD Headquarters.

Following the interview, the suspect was booked into the King County Jail.
