Two Men Shot, Killed, in Rainier Beach Parking Lot

UPDATE 6/8: Police arrested yesterday a 18-year-old man in Federal Way on 6/7 with the assistance of US Marshals and Valley SWAT team. He was booked into the King County Jail for investigation of homicide and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Detectives are still on the scene following a shooting earlier this evening in the Rainier Beach neighborhood. The victims, both adult males, succumbed to their injuries.

At approximately 6:20 pm Saturday night a large group of people were in the Rainier Beach Safeway parking lot in the 9200 block of Rainier Avenue South. A disturbance broke out, and then witnesses reported shots being fired. The group fled in different directions, and the two victims remained.

Seattle Police and Fire both responded to the parking lot. Seattle Fire transported both victims to Harborview Medical Center, but, despite the life-saving measures by the medics, both victims were declared deceased prior to arriving.

Homicide and Gang Unit detectives responded, as well as CSI, to begin their investigation.
