Detectives are investigating after two people died in a string of tragic events Friday night.
Detectives with the Gang Unit were investigating in the 9700 block of 60 Avenue South after almost 70 rounds were fired near an elementary school around 4 pm Friday. One person had a graze wound and was transported to Harborview Medical Center for treatment. Four additional people arrived at Valley Medical Center seeking treatment for gunshot wounds they reportedly received during this incident.
Officers responded to the 8700 block of Seward Park Avenue South for multiple reports of gunshots at approximately 8 pm. When Officers found the scene at the Atlantic City boat ramp there was a man who had been shot. Despite attempts by medics, the man died at the scene.
Witnesses reported seeing a grey car flee the shooting scene. A man driving that car was involved in a hit and run collision at the intersection of Rainier Avenue South and Martin Luther King Jr Way South. The driver struck and killed a pedestrian before leaving the scene.
An occupant of that car was found at Harborview Medical Center when staff called to report that two individuals arrived with gunshot wounds they claimed to have received at the Atlantic City boat ramp.
Homicide detectives are investigating the shooting homicide while the Traffic Collision Investigators are handling the fatality collision.
Detectives are trying to determine how these events are related at this time.
