Officers made multiple arrests on Saturday evening related to a demonstration in East Precinct. Five subjects were arrested at approximately 10:30 pm at 15th Avenue and East Spring Street for offenses including failure to disperse, pedestrian interference, obstruction and resisting arrest.
Officers were monitoring a planned demonstration that began at approximately 8:00 pm at Seattle Central College. The group began marching in the street through residential neighborhoods, occasionally blocking traffic on major arterials, which delayed a Seattle Fire Department vehicle enroute to a hospital. Commanders gave several orders to disperse. Some demonstrators were also spray-painting parking signs and buildings as they went, and used a very large patio umbrella to obscure officers’ view of these acts of property damage.
Following the arrests, the five individuals were later booked into the King County Jail.
