Officers Arrest Two Suspects in Pioneer Square Stabbing

Officers arrested a 53-year-old woman and a 62-year-old man in connection with a stabbing that occurred Friday afternoon near Pioneer Square Park.

At approximately 1:30pm Friday afternoon, a parking enforcement officer was flagged down near the intersection of 1st Avenue and James Street about a possible assault. Officers responded and found a 40-year-old man with a stab wound to the stomach. Officers provided aid until the Seattle Fire Department arrived. Medics transported the man to the hospital, where he underwent surgery.

Based on witness accounts and descriptions, officers recognized one of the possible suspects and began an area check. Less than two hours after the stabbing, officers received a tip from a Metro King County employee that someone matching the description had been seen near Belltown. Officers responded and took both individuals into custody.

This remains an active case, and homicide detectives are interviewing the suspects.
