#2020-318900/West Precinct/Second Watch:
On 11-13-2020 at 1116 hours, an employee working from home due to COVID reviewed a voicemail received on their mainline. It was directed at one of their attorneys who was recently profiled in a local news story. The caller, who verbally identified himself, used racist and other slurs while threatening to break the attorney’s legs if she didn’t stop showing up in the news. His phone’s area code was from out of state. The complainant was advised to retain the voicemail and the investigating officer listened to it. The targeted victim was not present but was notified. Whether the suspect’s motives for the threat were bias-related, or if he was motivated by her work is unclear.
