#2020-328970/East Precinct/Third Watch:

On 11-26-2020 at 0132 hours, 911 received a call of a male with a sword threatening people near a grocery store on Capitol Hill. Officers arrived and the suspect refused to comply. A standoff occurred and the Hostage Negotiation Team was requested. HNT arrived and was able to negotiate the peaceful surrender of the suspect. The sword was taken as evidence and the suspect was booked into jail.

#2020-329055/Southwest Precinct/First Watch:

On 11-26-2020 at 0646 hours, a male was awakened by family members and was told that someone was trying to steal his vehicle. Victim went outside with his brother and observed a vehicle parked next to his and the suspect inside of his vehicle. The victim yelled at the suspect and the vehicle started to drive away, leaving the suspect inside of the victim’s vehicle. The victim fired 4 shots at the fleeing vehicle. It is unknown if the rounds struck the vehicle. The victim’s brother was able to detain the suspect until officers arrived. Officers recovered evidence at the scene. The weapon was recovered.

#2020-329063/East Precinct/First Watch:

On 11-26-2020 at 0654 hours, a male walked inside the Safeway located at the 1400 BLK of E John St. The suspect concealed several items inside his clothing. Security at the Safeway confronted the suspect and asked for the items back. The suspect pulled out a hatchet and made threats to cut the victim. The victim backed off and the suspect left the store EB on E. John St. Officers conducted an area search, but the suspect wasn’t located.
