Officers Recover Handgun, Narcotics After Finding Man Passed Out in Vehicle on Lower Queen Anne

After passing out in his pickup truck in Lower Queen Anne, a man wanted on multiple felonies lied to police about having a gun. Officers soon found the gun, along with several different kinds of drugs, and arrested the man.

Just after 4:00pm, a passerby requested a welfare check on a man passed out in a vehicle in a parking lot in the 600 block of 1st Avenue North. The truck was running and parked in an odd way, and the caller had been unable to rouse the man in the driver’s seat.

Officers arrived and saw an empty handgun holster on the passenger seat of the truck. They were able to wake the driver, but were concerned he might have hidden a gun in the truck, so they asked if he would be willing to step out of the truck to speak with them, and he agreed. When officers asked the man if he had a gun, he said no. Officers frisked the man for weapons and discovered a loaded handgun concealed in a shoulder holster. The man was placed under arrest for obstruction, and for illegally carrying a firearm without a permit, as well as the warrants.

When searching the suspect before transport, police additionally recovered 100 grams of meth, more than 8 grams of heroin, and more than 200 controlled pharmaceutical pills.

The 29-year-old man was booked into the King County Jail for illegal possession of narcotics as well as a felony warrant for burglary, reckless burning and trafficking stolen property. Officers will also be requesting charges for obstruction and the firearm-related offenses.
