On 12-15-2020 at 1854 hours, during 1st roll call multiple priority one calls came in around different parts of the East PCT. Officers responded to one of these in the 900 block of Cherry St. Through the officers’ investigation it was determined the suspect met the prongs for an involuntary mental health evaluation. The officers attempted to secure her as she tried to walk away from them, not following commands. A slight struggle ensued resulting in no more than de-minimis force being used with controlled and prescribed tactics. Prior to gaining control however, the suspect attempted, unsuccessfully, to gain control of one officer’s duty firearms. He maintained control of the holstered firearm and issued commands to let go of his gun. The suspect acknowledged the attempt verbally to the officers. The suspect was accepted at King County Jail and is in custody but not before trying to bite the transport officer’s arm in the ambulance. The second victim officer fortunately moved fast enough to avoid contact with the suspect’s teeth, but not their mouth/lips. Both officers completed hazard reports.
