Detectives Recover AK-Style Pistol, Arrest Man in Connection with South Seattle Shooting

SPD investigators and the US Marshals taskforce last week recovered an AK-style pistol and arrested a 19-year-old man in Lakewood for a warrant related to a shootout last May in South Seattle.

On May 3rd 2020, police were called to the 6700 block of Shaffer Ave South after at least three people exchanged gunfire, striking two vehicles and two homes in the area. Two suspects involved in the shooting also reportedly carjacked a motorist to flee the scene.

Police arrested the 19-year-old suspect previously for the shooting, but he failed to appear in court for the case, resulting in a judge issuing a warrant for his arrest.

Police and the US Marshals taskforce located and arrested the man in Lakewood on Thursday and recovered a bag, which contained the AK-style pistol and ammunition. The suspect is a convicted felon and unable to legally possess firearms.

Investigators booked the man into the King County Jail for his warrant.
