#2021-099458/West Precinct/First Watch:
On 04-24-2021 at 0344 hours, witnesses observed a suspect light a small fire against the building, and later a dumpster, which was also against the occupied building. Officers arrived, pulled the dumpster away from the building, and extinguished the fire. The suspect returned to the scene and was arrested after being identified by witnesses. Arson Bomb Squad Detectives responded to assist with the investigation.
#2021-100076/North Precinct/Third Watch:
On 04-24-2021 at 2023 hours, a suspect entered the victims’ home through their front door. He assaulted the homeowner and grabbed a kitchen knife off their table and menaced them with it. The homeowner attempted to get the suspect out and was assaulted again. The suspect fled to the downstairs and barricaded himself in the bathroom. Officers responded and contained the house. Hostage Negotiation Team and K-9 responded. HNT was eventually able to establish dialogue with the suspect. After two hours, the suspect agreed to come out and surrender to negotiators. Upon clearing the downstairs, it was clear the suspect had done substantial damage to the bathroom in his altered state. He admitted to being on multiple drugs, to include a hallucinogenic. He is currently under hospital guard, awaiting discharge orders.
#2021-100095/North Precinct/Third Watch:
On 04-24-2021 at 2044 hours, a victim, who is transgender, went to an apartment looking for the resident. The suspect, who was not the resident of that apartment, answered the door. It appeared from recovered evidence that a few words were exchanged. As the victim was walking away, the suspect exited the apartment and began to assault the victim with a broomstick. The suspect was also using derogatory words towards the victim while committing the assault. The suspect was arrested and booked into the King County Jail for the Hate Crime.
