#2021-124151/North Precinct/Third Watch:

On 05-21-2021 at 0027 hours, officers responded to a report of shots after an argument in the area of NE 143 St/ Lake City WY. Multiple descriptions of suspects/suspect vehicles came in as officers were en route. As units arrived, reports of a male shot came in at an apartment building. Officers formed a contact team and moved up to the building in question and located a gunshot victim. Seattle Fire was standing by and was called in once the scene was secure. An area check was conducted with negative results. Victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center with a gunshot wound to his back. Officers located evidence of a shooting on the sidewalk next to where victim was supposedly shot. Incident screened with homicide.

#2021-124271/Southwest Precinct/First Watch:

On 05-21-2021 at 0637 hours, officers responded to the report of a shooting. The victim observed the suspect milling around vehicles, possibly prowling them. The suspect entered a vehicle and drove away. As the vehicle went by, the victim confronted the suspect. The suspect fired one shot from the vehicle, hitting the victim in the arm. The victim, who was also armed, returned fire with a volley of shots. The victim suffered a non-life-threatening injury. Officers applied a tourniquet before Seattle Fire arrived. The victim was transported to the hospital by medics. Evidence of a shooting was collected. The suspect round appeared to have travel through the arm and into an apartment. More evidence was collected. No other parties were injured.

#2021-124492/South Precinct/Second Watch:

On 05-21-2021 at 1144 hours, patrol responded with Seattle Fire to a reported RV fire in an encampment on the WSDOT property. Upon arrival SFD located an injured person, likely related to the fire, who was transported to Harborview Medical Center with serious injuries. The Fire Marshal responded, finding the cause and origin of the fire to be “undetermined.” SPD Arson Bomb Squad detectives were on scene and notified WSP of the incident. At the time of this report the victim was not available for an interview. ABS/WSP will handle any follow-up.

#2021-124555/West Precinct/Second Watch:

On 05-21-2021 at 1258 hours, a teen student saw & heard an unknown male leave the King County Courthouse and make a comment about wanting to go get a bomb to blow up the court and himself. The suspect walked away, and the student took her bus to school where she notified an administrator who called 911. An area check was negative. Officers spoke to courthouse staff who confirmed they had kicked that described suspect out of the court at that time. Courthouse security decided to evacuate their building. SPD personnel handled traffic control on 4th Ave. while King County Sheriff’s Office units responded to clear their building with a K-9. Nothing concerning was found. KCSO had a PIO respond to deal with the multiple media outlets who responded to cover the scene.

#2021-125004/East Precinct/First Watch:

On 05-21-2021 at 2135 hours, officers responded to a home for a child luring incident. The caller reported that her son came home from school at 1050 hours and told his mother that a suspect driving a van, and wearing a black ski mask, had tried to get the boy to enter the suspect’s van. The boy stated a passerby came to his rescue, struck the suspect, and told the boy to run. The suspect left in the vehicle at a high rate of speed. The good Samaritan was not identified. The mother spoke to a friend and later called 911 to report the incident out of concern for other children in the area.  

#2021-125092/East Precinct/Third Watch:

On 05-21-2021 at 2315 hours, officers were conducting proactive patrol when they observed two males suspiciously handling a pistol. The street/sidewalk area was crowded with people out for the Friday nightlife and the officers believed these subjects posed a risk to the public. The subjects were contacted and one of them quickly concealed the pistol in his pocket upon approach of the officers. That suspect was found to be a previously convicted felon and is the respondent in a protection order prohibiting him from possessing a firearm. He was booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. The second suspect was interviewed and released from the East Precinct with misdemeanor charges requested.
