Pedestrian Killed in South Seattle Collision

Detectives are investigating after a man was killed early Thursday morning in a motorist/pedestrian collision on Airport Way South.

At approximately 2:50 a.m., the driver of a small SUV was travelling northbound on Airport Way South. Near South Norfolk Street, the driver struck a pedestrian. The driver stopped and called 911, and police and the Seattle Fire Department responded. The 57-year-old male victim was declared deceased at the scene.   

An officer trained as a drug recognition expert responded to evaluate the driver and did not find any signs of impairment.

Detectives from the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad came to the scene and will conduct the investigation.
