#2021-165298/Southwest Precinct/Third Watch:

On 07-02-2021 at 0230 hours, unknown suspect(s) stole a victim’s vehicle at gunpoint in the area of 1200 S Cloverdale ST, Seattle WA.

#2021-165364/West Precinct/First Watch:

On 07-02-2021 at 0512 hours, officers were requested to respond with Seattle Fire near a city park to assist with a woman who had just given birth on the sidewalk. The mother refused to allow anyone to assist her with caring for the child. Officers arrived and observed the newborn on the ground with the woman hovering over the child. SFD personnel arrived, and the mother refused to allow the child to be transported to the hospital. Additional medical personnel arrived, and with assistance from officers, they were able to get the newborn into an ambulance. The mother also needed medical attention but refused any services or care. She was transported to a hospital for an ITA. CPS was contacted along with SPD Crisis Response Team (CRT), and CRT stated it would be contacting King County for further evaluation on the mother. The child is reported to be in stable condition and CPS has arrived at the hospital to evaluate the situation.

#2021-165439/East Precinct/First Watch:

On 07-02-2021 at 0751 hours, officers were dispatched to St James Cathedral in regards to property destruction. Officers arrived and a located a large bronze door which serves as an entry into the cathedral. This door was covered in red paint that read “How could you? They were children” apparently referring to graves found underneath a former Catholic-run residential school in Canada. The damage equaled thousands of dollars and is consistent with what the church is seeing at several churches in Canada.

#2021-165567/East Precinct/First Watch:

On 07-02-2021 at 1015 hours, officers were dispatched to a report of a shooting. When officers arrived and made contact with the victim, she stated she got into a verbal argument with her doordash driver over the temperature of her food. That lead to the suspect pulling a gun out and firing a round into the air and the pointing it at the victim. Officers located evidence of a shooting and contacted doordash to attempt to get more information about the driver.

#2021-165934/South Precinct/Second Watch:

On 07-02-2021 at 1731 hours, officers responded to the 5000 blk MLK Jr Wy S to a report of shots being heard. Arriving officers found two vehicles in the apartment’s parking lot with bullet damage and evidence of a shooting in the SB lanes of MLK Jr Wy S. There was very limited witness and suspect information.

#2021-165984/South Precinct/Second Watch:

On 07-02-2021 at 1821 hours, the SPD Traffic Collision Investigation Squad responded to MLK and S Alaska St when two pedestrians, adult male and adult female, were killed by a moving LINK LRV upon crossing the tracks illegally.

#2021-166065/East Precinct/Third Watch:

On 07-02-2021 at 2009 hours, officers were buying dinner for themselves at the start of their nightlife shift at a walk-up taco stand in Edward Sector. The officers were in line with other people and were minding their own business as they placed and paid for their food order. Suddenly, a female suspect approached both officers and began thrusting a cellphone into each officer’s face. The suspect insulted the race of one officer and continued to invade the personal space of both while they attempted to mind their own business. The officers each pushed the woman’s hand away from their faces as she was inches away from each of them. After one officer moved her hand out of his face, she struck his arm in full view of multiple witnesses, a security camera, and business employees. She struck the officer two more times on his arm, and they took her into custody for Assault 3rd degree. No witnesses wished to provide their contact information or make a statement. No employees wished to provide a statement or contact information. The subject made bias policing complaints, excessive force complaints, and sexual assault complaints. A type I Use of Force was completed along with an OPA referral. Hazard report sent. No officers were seriously injured.

#2021-166109/Southwest Precinct/Third Watch:

On 07-02-2021 at 2105 hours, officers responded to a 911 report of an armed robbery the occurred in the 8800block of 35 Ave SW. The victim was working at the register counter when a suspect approached the counter, produced a handgun, pointed it at the victim and demanded cash from the register and safe. The suspect was given the money from the register. The suspect began threatening the clerk and held him at gunpoint until he was given money from the safe and the victim’s cell phone. The suspect then fled the scene on foot. The clerk called 911 for police assistance. A witness was located, and a vehicle description was obtained. An area check was conducted with negative results. A K9 unit assisted in the search. Officers processed the scene and collected evidence. The Robbery Unit was notified and will conduct the follow-up investigation.

#2021-166129/West Precinct/Third Watch:

On 07-02-2021 at 2126 hours, officers responded to a call about a fight occurring near 1 Av and Yesler Way. Upon arrival officers spoke with the involved parties. The victim alleged that the suspect used a racially derogatory name and that the assault was motivated by race. The suspect was arrested, transported to Harborview Medical Center for injuries sustained during the fight and will be booked into King County Jail upon release from HMC. Additional charges were requested for assault on a 2nd victim and harassment. Hate crime was screened.

#2021-166157/West Precinct/Third Watch:

On 07-02-2021 at 2200 hours, officers responded to a bar near Pike Place Market regarding the report of property destruction. Per the call details, an intoxicated female subject had jumped over the bar and began destroying all the bottles of liquor. As officers were taking the subject into custody, she spit on an officer two times, striking the officer in the face. Subject was subsequently booked into King County Jail for Investigation of Assault without further incident.

#2021-166204/South Precinct/Third Watch:

On 07-02-2021 at 2238 hours, officers responded to shots fired. Upon arrival they located evidence of a shooting, but no damage was located. No injuries were reported. Gun Violence Reduction Unit was consulted. Officers processed the scene.
