#2021-222585/East Precinct/Second Watch:
On 08-26-2021 at 1614 hours, a victim got into a verbal confrontation with two suspects. At one point, both of the suspects pulled out handguns and began to shoot at the victim. The victim ran from the scene and was not injured. The suspects fled in a vehicle. Officers arrived, made the scene safe, and contacted witnesses. Gun Violence Reduction Unit detectives responded, processed the scene, and recovered other evidence. The investigation is ongoing and being handled by GVRU detectives.
#2021-222712/South Precinct/Second Watch:
On 08-26-2021 at 1831 hours, suspect 1 (S1) a juvenile, approached suspect 2 (S2), also a juvenile, and fired a handgun at him. S2 was struck twice, once in the leg and once in the neck, suffering non-life-threatening injuries. S1 began to run away when S2 produced their own handgun and shot at S1 numerous times. S2 collapsed at the scene. Before patrol arrived, an unidentified passerby drove up, took S2’s handgun, and drove away from the scene. Patrol arrived and placed a tourniquet on S2’s leg. He was transported to Harborview Medical Center (HMC) and taken to surgery. S2 will be booked for UPFA – Juvenile when released from HMC. Witnesses observed S1 running from the scene and provided 911 with his path. Patrol officers located the suspect a short distance from the crime scene hiding in some bushes. S1’s handgun was located by a KCSO K9 that responded to assist with an evidence search. Gun Violence Reduction Unit detectives responded, processed the scene, and took custody of S1. S1 was booked into Juvenile for Assault 1st degree and UPFA. GVRU will handle follow-up.
#2021-222931/East Precinct/Third Watch:
On 08-26-2021 at 2345 hours, officers responded to the area of 9th Ave and Madison St in response to a call of multiple gun shots being heard with vehicles speeding away from the area. Upon arrival of officers, an area search was conducted at which time officers located evidence of a shooting in the intersection area of 9th Ave/Madison St. Additionally within minutes of this call, a gunshot victim arrived at Harborview Medical Center by personal vehicle. Victim stated that he was stopped at a red traffic light facing west bound on Madison St (and 9th Ave) when a silver in color Mercedes pulled up along victim’s passenger side. At this time, the unknown suspect from the driver’s side of the silver Mercedes began shooting at victim before speeding away, last seen west bound on Madison St. Victim was treated at HMC for hand and facial injuries (glass shards) received by the multiple gun shots. Officers processed the scene and recovery of shell casings. Gun Violence Reduction Unit detectives arrived and assumed investigation.
