Man Injured in Wednesday Morning Pioneer Square Shooting

Police are investigating after a man was shot in the Pioneer Square neighborhood on Wednesday morning.

Just before 8:00 a.m., a 911 caller reported a man had been shot at 1st Avenue and Yesler Way. Police responded and found a 26-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the hip. The victim initially declined all medical services. He told police the shooting occurred about 15 minutes before the 911 call, in a tent several blocks away, but declined to provide any additional information. Eventually he was persuaded to go to the hospital, and Seattle Fire Department medics transported him to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition.

Although there were several other people in the area, no one provided a description of the suspect or circumstances surrounding the shooting. Police searched the area but did locate a crime scene. Anyone with information about this incident can call the tip line at (206) 233-5000.
