#2021-279822/South Precinct/Third Watch:
On 10-22-2021 at 0037 hours, at the Mt Baker Light Rail station, a male suspect was involved in a physical altercation with two other males after they were exiting a light-rail train. After the fight, the male suspect went home, took a handgun, ran back to the scene, and shot at the two other males. The two males shot back before running away on foot. The two males and the suspect did not report the incident to the police. However, the suspect’s girlfriend called 911. The suspect spoke to officers about the incident but did not mention the shooting. The fight and the shooting occurred on the light rail station platform, but King County Sheriff’s Office Metro declined to take primary, so SPD officers took primary of the incident. After investigating, officers arrested the suspect for Investigation of Assault. Evidence of a shooting was recovered, and 1 handgun was seized for evidence. The report will be forwarded to Gun Violence Reduction Unit.
#2021-280127/West Precinct/First Watch:
On 10-22-2021 at 0945 hours, a suspect caused felony level property damage at a business and fled on foot when officers arrived. A foot pursuit took place which lasted several blocks before the suspect was apprehended at taken into custody by officers. The suspect was resisting arrest and dispatch put out a “HELP the officer”, which lasted only a brief time. No officers were injured during this incident, which was screened.
#2021-280227/South Precinct/Second Watch:
On 10-22-2021 at 1115 hours, an SPD Narcotics Detective and the FBI SSTF were attempting to locate a suspect who was wanted on Kidnapping 1st and Assault 2nd charges. Surveillance units from SPD Narcotics, the FBI and Gun Violence Reduction Unit located the suspect in Burien. SPD SWAT was called in as the arrest team. SWAT attempted to make the arrest as the suspect sat in his vehicle. The suspect was able to ram into a building and into the takedown vehicle which gave him enough space to unblock his vehicle and flee the scene. The resulting pursuit ended near 2 Ave S and S/Kenyon St where the suspect fled on foot. SPD K9 tracked the suspect into an encampment where he was taken into custody. He is pending booking into King County Jail.
#2021-280246/South Precinct/Second Watch:
On 10-22-2021 at 1155 hours, officers responded to a report of an assault in a convenience store located in the SODO neighborhood. Upon arrival, they encountered the victim, who was bleeding from the head. The victim, who owns the store, stated that he was trying to break up an altercation in his parking lot when the two male suspects followed him into the store. The suspects then verbally accosted him while pushing him around and telling him to “Go back to where you came from…. go back to your country.” One of the suspects then began to repeatedly punch the victim in the head until he blacked out. The suspects fled in an unknown direction. When interviewed by officers prior to being transported to the hospital, the victim gave a statement and included that he felt the suspects assaulted him because of his ethnicity. Officers screened the incident. Appropriate notifications were made via alert email.
#2021-280290/East Precinct/Second Watch:
On 10-22-2021 at 1242 hours, officers responded to a report of shots fired in Frink park along Lake WA Blvd S. Several hikers and residents reported that they heard 4-6 shots go off in the 400 block of Lake WA Blvd S. Officers responded to the area and located evidence of a shooting in the roadway at that location. One of the neighbors reported seeing a Blue 1980’s Toyota Corolla rapidly leaving the area just after the shots were fired occupied by (3) adult males. The possible suspect vehicle had no front or rear plate and there may have been a temporary tag in the corner of the rear window. Officers searched the area for potential victims and for the suspects, but none were found. The road was temporarily closed while officers collected evidence.
#2021-280788/North Precinct/Third Watch:
On 10-22-2021 at 2208 hours, a suspect came into a store and began yelling racial slurs at the clerk. The suspect left the store. About ten minutes later the clerk was outside the store when the suspect approached the clerk again yelling race-based profanities. The suspect had a large wood fence board with nails sticking out and swung at the victim several times hitting him once. The victim was able to get inside the store and lock the door. The victim stated the suspect then lifted his shirt and showed a handgun and stated, “I’m going to kill you….” The suspect then left. Officers located the suspect about ten blocks away. A positive I.D. was made, and the suspect was booked into King County Jail.
