#2021-304412/East Precinct/Second Watch:

On 11-16-2021 at 1641 hours, an adult female victim had just stepped off a Metro bus when she noticed the suspect standing about 30 feet away from her on a path between some trees. As the victim began to walk toward home the suspect began to follow her and called out to her. The suspect caught up to her and began to engage her in conversation. The victim tried to be friendly but eventually told the suspect she did not want company and asked the suspect to leave her alone. The suspect refused to break off contact and continued following the victim. The victim changed course and went directly to her son’s apartment nearby. The suspect followed her right up to the front door. When the victim went inside the apartment, she tried to close the door, but the suspect held the door open with his hand and foot and would not allow her to close the door. The two briefly fought over the door being shut until the victim began screaming for assistance. At this point the suspect took his hand out of the door and the victim quickly closed and locked it. The victim called 911 as the suspect continued to yell at the victim through the closed door and tried to use the door peephole to observe the victim inside. The victim reported that the suspect then threatened her and said he would kill her if she didn’t open the door. The suspect refused to leave until he heard the siren of responding officers approaching and quickly walked away. Arriving officers searched the apartment building until they located the suspect and placed him under arrest. The suspect was booked into King County Jail for Investigation of Burglary and Investigation of Harassment. Alternate charges were requested for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender. The Sexual Assault Unit screened this incident.
