#2022-011727/West Precinct/Third Watch:
On 01-15-2022 at 0040 hours, officers were driving in the area of 12 AV South and South Jackson St when they were flagged down by a male victim who stated he had been in an altercation with an unknown person who then fired shots at him. The victim did not need medical aid. The suspect escaped before officers were flagged down.
#2022-011778/West Precinct/Third Watch:
On 01-15-2022 at 0207 hours, a group of men began fighting on the sidewalk in the 400 block of 1 AV South. Security guards who had just finished working their shift at a nearby establishment broke up the fight. The two halves of the fight dispersed. A person fired off rounds from a handgun, into the air, as they left in a vehicle.
#2022-011791/West Precinct/Third Watch:
On 01-15-2022 at 0234 hours, a business owner and employees discovered someone had forced entry into their building. They were locking up when they discovered the forced entry. They did a search of the building and located a suspect inside. Officers arrived and arrested the burglar.
#2022-011818/South Precinct/First Watch:
On 01-15-2022 at 0350 hours, officers responded to a reported shooting located in South Seattle. Officers contacted the victim and observed that he had a possible gunshot wound to the back of his head. Seattle Fire responded and transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center for evaluation/treatment. The victim was at the time of this report, stable with non-life-threatening injuries. Evidence of a shooting was recovered from the scene, but it is unclear if it was from the shooting this morning. The suspect is at large and was reported to be an acquaintance of the victim. An area check for the suspect was conducted with negative results.
#2022-011938/Southwest Precinct/First Watch:
On 01-15-2022 at 0845 hours, a suspect was inside the Safeway located at the 2600 BLK of California Ave SW. The manager of the Safeway saw the suspect placing items inside his cart, backpack, and duffel bag. The manager approached the suspect and offered to assist the suspect with checking out all the items he was concealing. The suspect became agitated and pulled out a hypodermic needle, and aggressively held the needle in his hand as a weapon. The manager placed a shopping cart between him and the suspect. The suspect walked out of the store with the stolen items inside his backpack and duffel bag. Officers conducted an area search for the suspect, but he wasn’t located.
#2022-012141/South Precinct/Second Watch:
On 01-15-2022 at 1416 hours, a female victim was walking to work in the area of 6 Ave S and S Holgate St when a female suspect approached the victim and asked her for money. The victim refused and the suspect responded by attacking her. The suspect punched the victim two times and forcefully took her cell phone and $100. During the attack the suspect made racial slurs towards the victim and told her she needed to “go back to her country.” The victim said she believed the suspect attacked her because of her race. Officers located the suspect in the area of the incident and contacted her after she was pointed out by the victim. The suspect made additional derogatory comments about the victim’s race while being interviewed incident to arrest. The incident was screened, and a command staff page was sent.
#2022-012179/West Precinct/Second Watch:
On 01-15-2022 at 1528 hours, a local grocery store asked a person to leave after witnessing him shoplifting. The person exited the store, then decided to return and selected more items. When confronted again by store security he raised what was thought to be a knife over his head and threatened to kill the security and store manager (the knife turned out to be a tent stake which was recovered.) Officers located the suspect and took him into custody after a brief foot pursuit (de minimus force only.) Suspect was booked into King County Jail. One officer suffered minor injuries.
#2022-012213/East Precinct/Second Watch:
On 01-15-2022 at 1603 hours, officers responded to a report of a bias incident in the 200 block or Broadway. The victim in this incident was a female postal worker. The driver of a box truck made an illegal u-turn in the middle of Broadway which struck the victim’s postal cart while she was standing next to it. When the victim pointed this out to the driver, he immediately became angry and began screaming at the victim. During the course of this verbal assault the suspect spat directly on the victim and then called her a racial slur before he sped off. The suspect in this incident was described as an adult male with ear gages and multiple piercings, including on his face. The suspect fled before officer arrival and was not found. The victim was in full postal uniform and in a marked postal vehicle when this incident occurred, and Federal Law against the Assault of a Federal/Postal employee should apply. The Sergeant of this sector made contact with the victim and the investigating officer. Bias Crimes Detective notified.
#2022-012360/Southwest Precinct/Third Watch:
On 01-15-2022 at 1934 hours, officers responded to a convenience store in the 4800 block of Erskine Way SW when the clerk reported two male customers fighting after one subject used racial slurs toward the other. The male who used the slurs stayed at the scene while the other male left before officers arrived. The remaining male admitted using racial slurs several times toward the other male, and he claimed the other male assaulted him and threatened to shoot him. Witness statements and evidence contradicted the remaining subject’s statements.
#2022-0122333/West Precinct/Third Watch:
On 01-15-2022 at 2020 hours, officers responded to a trespass incident at a business in the 500 block of Mercer St. The investigation revealed several warrants for the trespass suspect, one of which was bookable into King County Jail (KCJ). As officers were taking the suspect into custody, he kicked at officers, striking two of them in the shin area. He was subsequently booked into KCJ for two counts of Assault 3rd Degree, as well as the Seattle Municipal Court warrant. Neither officer sustained injury.
#2022-012438/East Precinct/Third Watch:
On 01-15-2022 at 2140 hours, a marijuana retail store at 2413 E Union St was robbed at gun point. Three masked and gloved males, each armed with handguns, encountered the security guard in front of the business and directed the guard into the business. While inside the business, the suspects encountered a total of three employees, the security guard, a sales associate, and the manager. The males conducted a coordinated approach takeover style robbery where one suspect controlled the security guard by pointing the gun at his face. Another suspect controlled the sales associate and took the cash from the register. Another male took the manager to the rear of the store and instructed the manager to open the safe(s). None of the employees were injured. The males took an undisclosed amount of cash from the business along with some marijuana product and then fled east on foot. Robbery Unit was consulted via phone and determined patrol was able to process the scene.
#2022-012445/North Precinct/Third Watch:
On 01-15-2022 at 2200 hours, two armed suspects entered a marijuana retailer located near Aurora / Northgate with handguns. The suspects demanded product and money before fleeing in an unknown direction. SPD K9 was unavailable so dispatch contacted a KCSO K9. Due to location, response time, and heavy start point contamination, the KCSO K9 was called off. Robbery unit notified.
#2022-012454/North Precinct/Third Watch:
On 01-15-2022 at 2230 hours, two armed suspects entered a marijuana retailer located near NE 45 ST / 4th Ave NE with handguns. The suspects demanded product and money before fleeing in an unknown direction. SPD K9 was unavailable so dispatch contacted a KCSO K9. Due to location, response time, and heavy start point contamination, the KCSO K9 was called off. Robbery unit notified. A witness advised that a black sedan was seen fleeing the location after the incident.
#2022-012488/Southwest Precinct/Third Watch:
On 01-15-2022 at 2322 hours, officers responded to multiple 911 calls of a suspect male armed with an axe and knife threatening customers at the Admiral Safeway. Upon arrival, officers contacted witnesses as well as a victim and developed Probable Cause to arrest the suspect on Felony Harassment. Officers formed a contact team and safely located this suspect hiding in a stairwell, placing him in custody without incident. Suspect was booked into King County Jail for Investigation of Felony Harassment. Homicide was notified via email.
