#2022-015027/Southwest Precinct/Third Watch:
On 01-19-2022 at 0214 hours, a shots call near Westcrest Park in the 8600 block of 8th Ave SW was called in. Approximately 45 minutes later, a victim with a gunshot wound to the left thigh showed up at the VA Hospital. Officers responded and were told by the victim that he had been shot near Westcrest Park. Officers located the shooting scene, recovered evidence of a shooting, and took audio statements from two witnesses located at the scene. Gun Violence Reduction Unit notified.
#2022-015035/North Precinct/Third Watch:
On 01-19-2022 at 0246 hours, two victims were at a party in the University District. They stepped outside and were standing on the sidewalk when two unknown subjects ran out from the alleyway, demanding the victims to turn out their pockets. The two suspects had handguns and one racked the slide (ejecting an unfired bullet) while running toward the victims. The suspects retrieved wallets, phones, and a car key from the victims. One suspect fled back through the alleyway on foot and the other stole the victim’s vehicle. The victim attempted to track his phone but couldn’t remember his iCloud password. K9 was unavailable to track the second suspect. Evidence of the incident was located.
#2022-015566/South Precinct/Second Watch:
On 01-19-2022 at 1635 hours, an employee was working at the Subway located at 5603 4 Ave S. The suspect entered the store with his face covered and a hood over his head. He approached the cash register displaying a handgun and demanding money. The employee retrieved approximately $200 to $300 from the register and handed it to the suspect. The suspect fled from the store on foot. A K-9 track was attempted for the suspect with negative results. Robbery was notified.
#2022-015772/West Precinct/Third Watch:
On 01-19-2022 at 2220 hours, officers responded to a bias call and upon arrival made contact with the victim. The victim stated he had just gotten off the bus when the unknown suspect began yelling derogatory remarks regarding his perception of the victim’s sexual orientation. The suspect then threw an unknown liquid on the victim. The victim does not know the suspect, contends that the confrontation was unprovoked, and believes he was targeted based on sexual orientation. An area check for the suspect was negative. Alert email sent.
#2022-015811/North Precinct/Third Watch:
On 01-19-2022 at 2347 hours, the suspects, two of whom impersonated police officers (black clothing, vests with ‘police’ markings, and badges), performed a high-risk stop on the victim. After proning the victim out, the suspects repeatedly kicked and punched him, emptied his pockets of valuables and keys, and zip tied his hands behind his back. The victim, who sustained a laceration to his forehead, ultimately freed himself and sought assistance from hotel staff. The incident occurred in a secluded, non-monitored section of the parking lot.
