#2022-066301/West Precinct/Third Watch:

On 03-17-2022 at 0215 hours, Seattle Fire Ladder Truck was dispatched to West Seattle and enroute via the SR-99 tunnel Southbound. Upon exiting the tunnel, the rear driver of the ladder truck heard 4 shots and whizzing noises going past the truck. A grey BMW sedan (no plate) then fled at a high rate of speed. Seattle Fire personnel were uninjured and continued to their call, so they were not available for contact with SPD officers immediately. An initial search of SR-99 on foot failed to locate the scene and SDOT cameras were not helpful in identifying suspect vehicle. The ladder truck returned to the Belltown station 45 minutes later and was available for interview. No damage or injuries to SFD personnel or equipment. A better location for where the shots were fired was obtained from this second interview. Crime scene was subsequently located, and evidence of a shooting recovered. No victims or witnesses located.

#2022-066335/North Precinct/First Watch:

On 03-17-2022 at 0345 hours, a car prowl victim was alerted by a Ring camera set up on his work truck that someone was tampering with his vehicle. He went outside, interrupted the car prowl, and one of the four suspects fired a shot into the air from a handgun. The four suspects then fled in two separate vehicles. There was a time delay in reporting, and the area checked clear.

#2022-066340/Southwest Precinct/First Watch:

On 03-17-2022 at 0404 hours, a silver-colored vehicle was westbound at the 2200 BLK of SW Thistle St, and someone from inside the vehicle fired a shot. Officers arrived and checked for evidence. Officers didn’t locate any property damage at this time but evidence was collected.

#2022-066447/West Precinct/First Watch:

On 03-17-2022 at 0730 hours, officers were dispatched to a robbery with a knife implied at 7 Ave and Lenora St. The call stated that a male threatened to stab the victim and tried to take his backpack. An officer was on his way back to the West Precinct when he witnessed at 7 Ave and Virginia St, a male tackle, then choke, bear hug, and punch another male. The officer broadcast a fastback, 7 and Virginia. Before the officer could get out of his vehicle, the suspect ran south on Westlake Ave. The officer commanded him to stop, but to no avail so he broadcast the description of the male wearing a desert camo jacket and the direction of flight. Officers and bicycle units all responded and converged to the area of the federal courthouse. The suspect was apprehended in the lobby of the courthouse. He was clearly in crisis. AMR was requested to transport the suspect to King County Jail. Three separate victims were located, and all stated that the same male tried to rob them. The victim of the assault left the scene, but the assault was captured on the officer’s In Car Video. The suspect was booked into King County Jail for Attempted Robbery, Assault, and Warrants. No knife was ever recovered. No injuries to any officers or suspect.

#2022-066489/West Precinct/First Watch:

On 03-17-2022 at 0930 hours, officers from the Alternative Response Team were assisting Seattle Parks and Recreation with a scheduled encampment removal located at S Jackson St between 8 Ave S and 10 Ave S. As the field coordinators from SPR began removing property from the area they were approached by several individuals who opposed the removal of the encampment and impeded their work. Officers attempted to address the situation and decided to have Parks fall back from the site until additional resource arrived. A request to Lt. was made for additional resources from West Precinct to respond. Lt requested all available bike units and activated task force. Lt. took control of the incident until Captain arrived and assumed command. Upon arrival of all the units, the area being cleared was taped with caution tape to establish a clear perimeter. Bike officers were able to move the opposing individuals out of the work area for SPR to complete their work. No arrests were made, and no injuries occurred during this incident.

#2022-066765/South Precinct/Second Watch:

On 03-17-2022 at 1412 hours, officers responded to a bank robbery in the 9000 block of Rainier AV S. The suspect in this incident passed a note demanding money but left without receiving any money. No weapon was displayed. Officers processed the scene and collected evidence. An area check for the suspect was negative. The Robbery Unit was notified.

On 03-17-2022 at 1636, a victim reported bias pictures drawn on the side of her residence.

#2022-067030/West Precinct/Second Watch:

On 03-17-2022 at 1851 hours, a suspect entered a grocery store and selected several items from the hot food bar. As the suspect was leaving, he was confronted by store security. A fight ensued, the suspect punched and headbutted store security, breaking one of the security officers’ teeth. Security was able to pepper spray the suspect which caused suspect to run away. Officers later located and the victim positively identified the suspect. Suspect was arrested and booked into King County Jail for robbery and an outstanding assault warrant. Screened with Robbery.
