On 09-11-2022 at 1655 hours, roommates of a suspect in the 7100 block of 8th Ave NE called 911 to report that the man was in crisis. The suspect then pushed one of the roommates and threatened to kill him while he was carrying a 3D-printed handgun in a pouch. Another roommate physically pulled him away and the suspect went outside and fired his gun into the ground. The roommates claimed he had 3D-printed at least two firearms recently. He then walked back up to the entrance with the gun in a firing stance while he approached the door with other occupants just inside it. They thought he was about to come in and shoot them, but he didn’t. He called 911 himself and claimed he had just been testing the gun and waited outside for SPD. Officers formed a contact team and the suspect initially followed commands. However, he refused to get on the ground and instead walked over to a car and quickly drove away before officers were unable to see where he went. Officers phoned the suspect and negotiated with him to meet, and he peacefully surrendered and was booked for felony Harassment and Assault. His car was impounded pending a search warrant and officers secured his locked private bedroom until a warrant was obtained and served.
