Detectives are investigating after a bus driver unknowingly ran over a pedestrian Thursday afternoon in Queen Anne.
At 1:53 p.m., officers responded to the 100 block of Mercer Street for reports of a collision involving a King County Metro bus and a pedestrian. As the driver of the bus pulled away from the bus stop, he was unaware he had run over a man standing next to the back end of the bus. The 53-year-old pedestrian was declared deceased at the scene.
The bus was located north of the scene and officers notified the driver. A Drug Recognition Expert responded to the scene to evaluate the driver and found no signs of impairment.
Detectives from the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad responded to process the scene and will continue to investigate this incident.
