Police arrested a driver outside the West Precinct this morning after he reportedly followed another motorist through downtown and flashed a gun, continuing a dispute from a day earlier over line-cutting at a convenience store.
Around 4 AM, police received a 911 report from a 31-year-old man, who said he was pulling out of a gas station at 7thAvenue and Denny Way when he noticed a driver in a gray van following him. When the victim sped up, the van kept pace. The victim said the van driver had run several red lights to keep up with the victim and his passenger, and had flashed a gun while he pulled alongside them.
The victims drove to the West Precinct where officers pulled over the van driver, who was still following behind the victims. Police learned both drivers had been involved in a dispute a day earlier over line-cutting at a convenience store.
Officers arrested the van’s driver and recovered a handgun. Police learned the 48-year-old suspect is a convicted felon, and unable to legally possess firearms. Officers booked him into the King County Jail for harassment, theft, and a firearm violation.
