#2023-002654/North Precinct/Second Watch:
On 01-03-2023 at 1702 hours, an alarm company notified SPD of a bank robbery alarm triggered during a robbery attempt 5 minutes earlier at a bank in the 800 block of NE Northgate Way. The hooded and masked suspect approached a teller and pounded on the counter and demanded money. He did not brandish or claim to have a weapon, and made no explicit threats, other than the threatening manner in which he demanded money. When the teller reached to the cash drawer the suspect fled without any money. He was last seen on foot, w/b on NE Northgate Way.
#2023-002819/South Precinct/Third Watch:
At 2042 hours, calls started coming in to 911 regarding shots fired in the parking lot of a Safeway store in the Rainier Valley. Officers arrived and located evidence of a shooting in the north end of the Safeway parking lot. No one was injured but officers learned the incident might have started when a driver confronted the suspect, who then pulled a gun. The victim drove away but not before the suspect fired shots in the victim’s direction, hitting the victim vehicle twice. An area check was completed for the suspect vehicle but with no success. GVRU was notified.
#2023-002872/East Precinct/Third Watch:
At 2150 hours, Seattle Fire Marshal requested SPD respond to the scene of an arson. An unknown female entered an apartment and set a mattress on fire. The fire caused the sprinkler system to engage, which caused extensive property damage.
