#2023-042961/Southwest Precinct/First Watch:

On 02-14-2023 at 0725 hours, officers responded to the 770 hundred block of 24 Av SW. The victim, a construction site worker, stated that a subject had entered the fenced worksite. The victim contacted the subject and asked if they needed something, The subject did not respond, therefore the victim told the subject that they needed to leave the site. The subject then pulled out a gun and asked the victim if they were scared. The victim walked away and called 911. The subject was last seen northbound on 24 Av Sw. Officers did an area check and set up containment. A K9 unit responded but a track was negative. Guardian One was not available. There were two schools in the area, and they were advised to shelter in place during the incident. The subject remains at large.

#2023-043157/North Precinct/Second Watch:

Officers received a call that a female was being strangled by her boyfriend. A witness attempted to intervene and was also assaulted by the suspect. The victim escaped with her infant child in a vehicle and the suspect attempted to chase her in his own. The suspect was known to be armed and, according to the caller, the suspect has shot someone in the past. Officers, including the Crisis Response Unit MHP, located the suspect vehicle parked at a nearby grocery store and took the non-compliant suspect into custody. The suspect was booked for investigation of Attempted Kidnapping DV, assault DV, and assault. A warrant will be sought for the vehicle which likely contains a firearm.

#2023-043393/West Precinct/Second Watch:

At 1550 hours, officers responded to a weapons call. The suspect was originally at Denny Way/Fairview Av N displaying a knife at passersby and cutting tree trunks. The suspect threatened one passerby with the knife, to the point that she was afraid that she would be stabbed, before walking to the West precinct. Officers responded to the front of the precinct where the suspect was standing and waving the large knife around. After officers verbally de-escalated the situation, the suspect dropped the knife and was taken into custody without incident. The suspect was subsequently booked into KCJ for UPFA and Felony Harassment.

#2023-043407/West Precinct/Second Watch:

At 1603 hours, officers responded to an assault of multiple pedestrians in the 2100 block of 1st Ave. The female suspect had created a disturbance and punched passing pedestrians to include an elderly female victim. Upon arrival, officers contacted the suspect who was attempting to enter a secure apartment building at which she did not reside. The suspect was positively identified by the victims of the assault before officers placed her under arrest. As officers were taking her into custody, the suspect tried to kick and slap officers with her hands and feet before ultimately spitting on one officer and saturating the front of his uniform and vest (please see 23-43436). The suspect was subsequently transported to KCJ via AMR and booked for multiple counts of assault. The victims were treated by fire at the scene. A/Lt. screened this incident.

#2023-043631/South Precinct/Third Watch:

At 2108 hours, officers responded to a report of shots fired in the area of 28 Av S/S Genesee St. Officer arrived and located evidence of a shooting. No victims or property damage were located. Officers photographed, collected, and submitted the evidence. No witnesses were located and no description of suspects or vehicles. GVRU was notified.

#2023-043729/West Precinct/Third Watch:

At 2332 hours, officers responded to 1900 5 Ave to a report of an assault that occurred two and a half hours earlier at 3 Ave and Union St. The victim stated the suspect called him a racially derogatory name and assaulted him. He believed he was assaulted due to the suspect’s perception of his race. Due to the time delay, the suspect was not located.

#2023-043732/Southwest Precinct/Third Watch:

At 2339 hours, officers responded to multiple callers reporting shots fired in the area of the 4100 Block of California Ave SW. Officers arrived, conducted an area check, and located evidence of a shooting at the intersection of California Ave SW and SW Hanford St in the roadway. No victims or property damage were located. Officers photographed, collected, and submitted the evidence. One witness stated he observed a 2000s Model Jeep Cherokee speed off Northbound on California Ave SW.

#2023-043744/East Precinct/Third Watch:

At 2356 hours, calls began coming in for reports of shots fired along with a collision. Officers responded to MLK Jr Way S and S Washington ST. There they located a vehicle that had collided with a tree and a parked occupied vehicle. Officers conducted a search for evidence and located evidence of a shooting. Additional evidence indicates the suspects fled to the west and south. An area check was conducted for those suspects, and none were located. The vehicle the suspects were in was also an outside agency stolen vehicle.
