The Seattle Police Department has made an arrest in series of fraudulent vehicle purchases.
Late February, SPD detectives received a case involving an attempted fraudulent purchase of a vehicle, and quickly discovered this criminal activity had occurred at multiple locations, impacting multiple victims.
Officers acquired evidence of a potential suspect and were able to confirm his identity.
SPD located the suspect Saturday around 9:00 p.m. After a brief foot pursuit, the 40-year-old male suspect was arrested for identity theft, theft of motor vehicle, and unlawful possession of a firearm. A 31-year-old female accomplice was booked for possession of a stolen vehicle.
Officers recovered a firearm the male suspect threw during the foot pursuit. Both suspects were booked into King County Jail.
The arrest of the male suspect closed five open cases for the department.
