Patrol officers along with officers working an emphasis assignment in the area of 3rd Avenue and Pike Street located and arrested a suspect in a shooting Friday afternoon.
Just after 1:45 p.m., emphasis units were flagged down in the 200 block of Pine Street about a person who had been shot. Officers located a victim with gunshot injuries and performed lifesaving measures.
Police secured the scene and processed the area for evidence. The victim was taken to Harborview Medical Center with serious injuries.
Officers located a person matching the suspect’s description near 8th Avenue and Stewart Street. They took the suspect into custody and recovered a handgun.
Police confirmed the suspect is prohibited from legally possessing a firearm. The 40-year-old man will be booked into the King County Jail for felony assault and unlawful possession of a firearm.
