Seattle Police received multiple 911 calls about an explosion that occurred within the 100 block of 1st Avenue North this morning around 9:00 a.m.
When officers arrived in the area, they located a man at a nearby business who had a non-life-threatening injury to his hand.
Police provided medical intervention prior to Seattle Fire Department’s arrival on scene. SFD took over medical care once they arrived and later transported the 36-year-old male to Harborview Medical Center.
The man reported to police he was handling a firework in his residence when it exploded in his hand.
Arson Bomb Squad detectives responded to the scene to search for additional hazards to public safety. Detectives did not locate any other volatile material.
ABS will lead the follow-up investigation of this case.
