Officers from the East Precinct took a homicide suspect into custody after an alert community member called police Thursday morning.
Around 5:30 a.m., police located a stolen vehicle in the 1500 block of E Galer Street. The vehicle was associated with a homicide which occurred in the City of Edmonds Wednesday night. Officers did an area check for the suspect but did not locate him.
Just after 11:00 a.m., officers returned to the 1500 block of E Highland Drive to look for the suspect after receiving a call from a community member. The first arriving officer spotted the suspect who refused commands to stop and ran into Volunteer Park.
The suspect was taken into custody in the 1400 block of E Prospect after causing a self-inflicted injury. Officers rendered lifesaving care to the suspect until Seattle Fire crews arrived.
Medics transported the suspect to Harborview Medical Center where officers released custody to Edmonds Police investigators.
