A shooting in Seattle’s Central District seriously injured one person Friday night.
Shortly before 10 p.m., a sergeant with SPD working at the Garfield Teen Life Center heard multiple gunshots. Responding officers arrived near 25th Avenue and East Jefferson Street and found a man with multiple gunshot wounds. Officers provided lifesaving care until Seattle Fire Department personnel arrived to treat the victim.
Medics rushed the victim to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Officers secured the area and located multiple shell casings in the street. Police also recovered a semi-automatic handgun with an extended magazine left at the scene.
Detectives from the SPD Gun Violence Reduction Unit were called to the scene and will lead the investigation.
