Shortly after 5:00 a.m., Seattle police received a 911 call that a woman had been stabbed in the 900 block of Hiawatha Place South and the 33-year-old victim was being transported to Harborview Medical Center.
Officers met the victim and a witness at the hospital. The victim had sustained life-threatening injuries, but is currently in stable condition.
Police learned the victim and her friend were in the suspect’s apartment when the 32-year-old male grabbed a knife and stabbed the victim.
The victim escaped by jumping out of a second story window. The witness transported the victim to the hospital.
Officers surrounded the apartment, but the suspect refused the exit the building. Officers assigned to SPD’s Hostage Negotiation Team, as well as SWAT, responded to the scene.
A warrant was issued for the suspect’s arrest and he was taken into custody without further incident.
The suspect was booked into King County Jail for Investigation of Assault.
