A disturbance outside a Belltown diner led to the arrest of a man and recovery of a handgun Friday night.
Around 10:30 p.m., police were called to the 400 block of Cedar Street after receiving reports of a man brandishing a handgun outside the business. Arriving officers saw a subject matching the description given by employees sitting in front of the business and took him into custody.
Police located a loaded 9mm pistol in the front pocket of the suspect’s sweatshirt. Multiple witnesses told officers the suspect pulled the gun from his sweatshirt pocket and pointed it at people before units arrived.
Officers did a check of the man’s name and confirmed he was wanted for investigation of homicide by the King County Sheriff’s Office.
The 46-year-old suspect was transported to the King County Jail and booked for felony harassment and unlawful possession of a handgun. The pistol was found to have no serial numbers and was entered into evidence.
