Robbery detectives are investigating a shooting that left two men injured in SODO Monday afternoon.
Shortly after 3:00 p.m., officers responded to multiple reports of a shooting near the intersection of 1st Avenue South and South Massachusetts Street.
Officers arrived and located a 48-year-old male and a 29-year-old male both with gunshot wounds. Officers provided first aid to the men until Seattle Fire Department personnel arrived. Both men were transported to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition.
Officers secured the scene, interviewed witnesses, and reviewed surveillance footage.
Based on the investigation, officers determined the 48-year-old male was on his motorcycle when two other men, also on motorcycles attempted to rob the victim. The suspects allegedly demanded the victim give up his clothing and motorcycle. The victim refused and the three men began to fight. During the altercation, the victim drew his firearm. The 29-year-old male suspect also produced a firearm. Both the victim and the suspect fired their weapons.
The other 38-year-old male suspect was uninjured and was taken into custody.
Three firearms were recovered at the scene.
Detectives assigned to SPD’s Robbery unit, along with members of the Gun Violence Reduction Unit, will be leading the investigation.
