On August 29th police received a 911 call about a carjacking in the Rainier Valley.
Officers arrived around 11:30 p.m. and contacted the 23-year-old female victim. Police learned after the victim had initiated a turn onto 49th Avenue South, a vehicle crashed into the rear of her vehicle. When she stopped to speak to the other driver, two males exited the suspect vehicle pointing guns at her.
As the suspects pushed her aside, one of them got into the driver seat of her car and drove away. The victim attempted to stop the suspect from fleeing the scene but was unsuccessful. The suspect vehicle followed behind as they left the location driving east on South Roxbury Street.
The victim sustained minor injuries from the incident.
A few days later, on September 1st near the intersection of Martin Luther King Junior Way South and South Norfolk Street, police received a similar call about a carjacking just after midnight.
Police spoke with two male victims – a 21-year-old and a 47-year-old – who reported driving southbound on Martin Luther King Way Junior South, when they were suddenly rear ended. As the victims exited their car to check the damage, three armed suspects exited from the suspect vehicle and robbed them of their personal items and their vehicle.
Both vehicles were last seen driving southbound on Martin Luther King Junior Way South. The victims were not injured during the altercation.
The suspects were described to be possibly in their 20s, thin in build, wearing masks and hoodies. The suspect vehicle was a dark sedan type vehicle in both incidents.
Robbery detectives will be leading the investigation of these cases.
