Officers investigate a collision involving a stolen vehicle that left one suspect critically injured in South Park neighborhood.
Friday evening shortly before 6:15 p.m., police responded to assist King County Sheriff Office with their pursuit of a car jacked vehicle stolen in Burien. The car was occupied by two suspects stopped for heavy traffic at Harbor Avenue Southwest and Southwest Street Spokane. The 21-year-old male driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot. The man was apprehended a short distance away by KCSO. The juvenile male passenger transferred himself to the driver’s seat and fled driving at a high rate of speed. SPD and KCSO did not pursue the stolen vehicle.
Shortly after 6:30p.m., Dispatch received reports of a crash at West Marginal Way Southwest and 2nd Avenue Southwest involving the stolen car.
Witnesses reported that the stolen vehicle hit a semi-truck and burst into flames with the man still inside. Seattle Fire Department arrived, removed the male, and provided aid immediately. The man was transported to Harborview Medical Center with serious burns in critical condition.
The semi-truck driver a 52-year-old man was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
KCSO will handle the carjacking investigation.
