At approximately 1600 hours, during 1st watch, five youths were involved in a crime spree in the Sandpoint neighborhood that began with an attempt auto-theft (24-123641) followed by an interrupted attempt auto theft where they attempted to run over the male who intervened (24-123700), followed by 2 successful auto thefts (24-123735) and then attempted to hit a jogger with a stolen vehicle. The vehicle made 3-4 passes at the jogger who had to jump in the back of a parked pick-up bed to avoid being hit (24-123527). Det Poblocki along with patrol officers had identified 4 of the 5 involved and an operation involving GVRU and SWAT was implemented. At 1600 hours they began stealing vehicles in the Ballard area. Guardian 1 responded to the area. Patrol officers located the vehicle and began to follow the vehicle, Guardian 1 responded to their location and took over surveillance. The vehicle crashed at NW 85 St /15 AV NW where SWAT and patrol took 4 into custody. Guardian 1 located the outstanding suspect hiding in a yard nearby. The 5 juvenile suspects, ranging in age from 12-15 years old were booked into YSC for today’s crimes as well as several pre-existing felony charges such as, Robbery 2, Assault 1, Burg 2, Mal Misch, Veh Theft, and Taking Motor Vehicle Without Permission.
