Seattle Police detectives arrested a man for vehicular homicide following a fatal collision in South Seattle this morning.
At 10:36 a.m., patrol officers responded to a 911 call reporting a single vehicle collision in the 9200 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way South.
The Seattle Fire Department arrived on scene and extricated all three occupants from the vehicle and provided medical aid.
Despite all lifesaving measures, a 78-year-old passenger succumbed to her injuries, and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Another 47-year-old male passenger was transported to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition.
The 32-year-old driver was transported to HMC in stable condition. He was evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert and placed under arrest for Vehicular Homicide.
Detectives with the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad responded to the scene. They determined the driver lost control of his vehicle and travelled up onto the sidewalk and struck a tree.
