Suspect Arrested for Prowling Vehicle, Assaulting Police, Attempting to Disarm Officer of Duty Weapon

Police officer receives on-duty injury packet following encounter with violent suspect.

Seattle police arrested a suspect for prowling a vehicle, assaulting police, and attempting to disarm an officer of his duty weapon in Downtown Seattle Sunday morning.

On November 10th at 10:09 p.m., patrol officers responded to reports of man allegedly armed with a knife, breaking into a vehicle in the 1900 block of 2nd Avenue. The suspect fled from arriving officers.

Police tried to take him into custody, yet he disobeyed lawful commands, resisted arrest, assaulted the officers, attempted to take an officer’s taser, and tried to remove another officer’s duty weapon from his holster.

The officers deployed their tasers, yet they were ineffective. The suspect broke away from them and continued running away, initiating a foot pursuit.

The suspect grabbed onto a young woman passing by, and officers intervened and arrested him.

The Seattle Fire Department responded to the scene to evaluate the injured officer and the suspect. The officer was bleeding and sustained minor injuries.

The 37-year-old suspect was booked into King County Jail.

Homicide & Assault Unit detectives referred charges for Vehicle Prowling, Unlawful Use of Weapons to Intimidate Others, Obstructing a Public Officer, Resisting Arrest, Disarming a Law Enforcement or Corrections Officer, and three counts of Assault.
