#2024-341993/West Precinct/Third Watch:
At 0342 hours, officers responded to a shots fired call in the 3500 block of 32 AV W. The reporting party stated they heard several shots outside their home followed by a vehicle speeding away in an unknown direction. Officers arrived and located a single spent casing but no additional property damage. Security video showed the involved vehicle to be a silver or grey SUV. Not long after, an officer spotted a vehicle matching that description speed southbound on 14 AV W. The vehicle crashed into a gate of a closed business and the driver bailed on foot. The driver was quickly arrested, without incident, following a brief foot pursuit. An inventory search was conducted prior to impound and a jaws of life rescue tool was found in the back. A bulletin was published on 10/10/24 listing multiple burglaries in the area utilizing a similar tool. The driver was subsequently booked for reckless driving, obstruction and possession of burglary tools.
#2024-342223/South Precinct/First Watch:
At 1000 hours, officers responded to a domestic violence investigation in the 9400 block of Haraden Place South. Upon arrival, they discovered that the suspect had barricaded herself inside a bedroom, locking the door. After establishing probable cause for domestic violence assault, officers requested assistance from a negotiator (CRT) and began authoring a search warrant. Once the warrant was approved, the incident was screened with the SWAT Lieutenant, Negotiator 1, and 1 Robert on-scene. Following coordination and planning, an arrest team consisting of hands-on, lethal, and non-lethal units breached the door. The suspect was successfully placed under arrest without further incident.
#2024-342251/Southwest Precinct/First Watch:
At 1000 hours, GIU, CRG and SW patrol participated in a multi-store retail theft operation at Westwood Village (2800 SW Barton St). Officers teamed with loss prevention representatives from ULTA, Marshalls, and Target to identify and then apprehend shoplifters. There was a significant amount of activity resulting in 9 suspects arrested in a few short hours. 6 suspects were booked for crimes of theft, burglary, assault and warrants and 3 more were released with charges pending. This was a team effort and could not have taken place without CRG and SW bikes/patrol’s assistance.
