A 31-year-old man was arrested after ramming and damaging more than a half-dozen vehicles while trying to escape Seattle police in an apartment complex parking lot on Dec. 10.
Officers responded to the 7000 block of Sandpoint Way Northeast at about 8 a.m. after people nearby reported a man in an Audi A6 sedan appearing to be unconscious and slumped forward for at least 35 minutes.
When Seattle police officers arrived, they positioned in a way to prevent the suspect from escaping and posing a danger to the public. Then, responding officers attempted to get the suspect to wake up by using loud PA announcements, sirens and knocking on the driver’s side window.
Once the suspect woke up in the Audi, he started the vehicle and began to ram and push patrol vehicles out of the way. He hit three unoccupied police vehicles and four parked, unoccupied civilian cars. After hitting the vehicles, the suspect’s Audi was disabled, and he refused to get out of the car.
Seattle police negotiated with the suspect for about 30 minutes. He eventually gave up and was taken into custody for felony malicious mischief. The suspect was transported to the North Precinct. Investigators recovered suspected meth and a suspected meth pipe.
