Detectives Investigating Fatality Collision

Seattle police detectives are investigating a fatal collision this morning in South Seattle.

Just before 5:00 a.m, patrol officers responded to a report of a pedestrian and vehicle collision on East Marginal Way South near South Orcas Street.

Responding officers provided emergency first aid. Despite all life-saving efforts, the Seattle Fire Department pronounced the 46-year-old woman deceased at the scene.

Investigators determined that the woman was walking in the lanes of traffic without a pedestrian crossing and was struck by a sedan driving northbound. The driver remained on scene and cooperated with authorities. A Drug Recognition Expert evaluated him and found no signs of impairment.

Police cordoned off the area until detectives with the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad arrived to process the scene.

The circumstances leading up the collision are under investigation. If anyone has information, please contact TCIS at 206-684-8923.
