At 0809 hours, Officers responded to an RV fire. Inside there was a male subject and 3 dogs. The male self-extricated and was treated at the scene and transported to HMC for dog bites and smoke inhalation. Officers were able to gather the 3 dogs who also possibly suffered from minor burns and smoke inhalation. Seattle Animal Control was contacted and were closed. King County Animal Control was requested to respond due to no Seattle Animal Control but were unable to respond. Officers contacted two veterinarians contracted with the City of Seattle for emergency night/afterhours services and both stated they did not have the staffing nor the beds to treat the injured dogs. Officers proactively found a veterinarian to treat the dogs, Timberline Veterinary Emergency & Specialty in North PCT, no questions asked. Dogs were transported in patrol cars to the vet. SFD stated it was an accidental fire caused by a space heater and that the Fire Marshal was not responding.
