
Seattle police are investigating two attempted smash-and-grab burglaries in the Capitol Hill and SODO neighborhoods early Friday morning, Feb. 21.
At 3:32 a.m., dispatchers received reports of a vehicle that crashed into a building in the 1500 block of East Olive Way. Officers responded and discovered a car had rammed into the building, causing structural damage and posing a risk of collapse. A search revealed that the suspects did not make entry.
Three vehicles arrived at the scene, and suspects attempted to break into the business by ramming the front door but were unsuccessful. After the crash, the suspects fled in two separate cars. No arrests have been made.
The Seattle Fire Department responded, and the Seattle Department of Construction and Inspection will inspect the damage. The area around the building is closed for public safety.

At 4:03 a.m., officers responded to a crash at the 1900 block of 1st Avenue South, where a vehicle struck the front door of a building, causing damage and a gas leak.
Seattle Fire Department secured the scene, rendering it safe. An investigation revealed that three vehicles arrived, and suspects attempted to enter by backing into the building. The suspects fled the scene in two cars after the failed attempt. No arrests have been made.
