
Seattle police officers arrested a 50-year-old man for felony assault with a hatchet in the First Hill neighborhood this afternoon.
At 2:39 p.m., patrol Officers responded to a 911 call in the 900 block of Union Street regarding a man stabbed in the neck with a hatchet, severely injured. Officers arrived and found a 34-year-old victim suffering from a severe laceration to his neck.
The Seattle Fire Department arrived and provided medical treatment to the victim. They transported him to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition with life-threatening injuries.
Shortly thereafter, police located the suspect inside his 10th floor apartment and arrested him without incident.
Officers obtained a signed search warrant for the residence. They “located the hatchet/knife under the mattress in the living room. The knife was approximately 12 inches long with a 7-inch blade.” according to the police report.
Officers booked the suspect into King County Jail for Assault 1st Degree.
