On Monday afternoon, Seattle police detectives in the Robbery and Gun Violence Reduction Units, and North Precinct patrol officers arrested a man responsible for more than 20 bank robberies throughout Seattle and King County.
For the past several months, a lone suspect robbed multiple banks in King County, including 15 in Seattle alone, beginning in January. During the robberies, the suspect would pass a note demanding money, concealing his face with a mask and glasses.
Following a fingerprint match from one of the robberies, SPD’s Latent Print Unit identified the 42-year-old suspect.
On the afternoon of March 17, robbery detectives received information about the suspect’s location.
The Robbery and Gun Violence Reduction Units conducted several hours of surveillance and found the suspect walking in the 13000 block of 15th Avenue Northeast. Detectives called for patrol resources, and they arrested him without incident.
Officers transported him to Seattle Police Headquarters and Robbery Unit detectives and the FBI interviewed him.
Detectives booked him into the King County Jail for Investigation of Robbery. More charges will follow from Seattle and surrounding agencies as detectives complete their investigations.
