Seattle police are investigating an assault with a machete that injured a man Tuesday night in Lake City’s Albert Davis Park.
At 8:28 p.m., officers responded to a report of an assault near the 12500 block between 27th Avenue Northeast and 28th Avenue Northeast. They found a 42-year-old man with minor scratches and a small laceration to his left hand.
Seattle Fire Department medics treated the man at the scene before AMR transported him to a hospital for further care.
The investigation revealed the man had been playing music and dancing near an encampment when a male suspect approached and struck him in the back. The suspect then cut the man’s hand with a machete-style weapon.
The suspect fled southwest from the park before officers arrived. A police search of the area did not locate the suspect.
Detectives with the Homicide and Assault Unit are leading the investigation.
